Movies About Photography

Several films related to photography or taking pictures. Some of them are must-see.

Cidade de Deus (2002)

Cidade de Deus or City of God is an excellent film about a boy who grew up in a dangerous Rio de Janeiro neighborhood and survived thanks to his passion for photography. I haven't seen a better film than this, it really inspires and captivates.
Not for nothing on IMDb it received an 8.8 rating.
The film can be watched here eng.

Rear Window (1954)

Hitchcock classic thriller about a talented photojournalist who, while photographing the next cover story, sustained an injury and sits at home for several weeks in a cast. Nothing else to do but watch events through the window, where across the street interesting things are happening...
IMDb rating 8.8.

War Photographer (2001)

Documentary film about photographer James Nachtwey, who photographs wars and conflicts. In several episodes a video camera is mounted above the camera, where you can see what camera settings he uses to shoot. An excellent documentary film.
On IMDb rating 7.8.

Closer (2004)

Film about the relationships of two couples, which become complicated when a man from one couple meets a woman from the other couple. One of the main characters is a photographer. The film's scenery often takes place in photo exhibitions and studio spaces.
From this list, one of the most impressive films precisely because of the popular actors: Natalie Portman, Jude Law, Julia Roberts and Clive Owen.

The Princess from France arrives in Moscow to see her grandmother's homeland, but then suddenly runs away to experience the life of an ordinary person. A journalist and his friend photographer are lucky to find her first before the security services and police do. A real compromising material for the world's yellow press is made. Comedy.

I've seen almost everything from the mentioned ones and a little more. for example - http://www.ishtarfilms.com/page2.htm Movies about African photography and photographers (but I don't remember the name). The Adventure of Photography, Henri Cartier-Bresson: The Impassioned Eye, Contacts,: The Great Tradition of Photojournalism there are several films - vol.1, etc. And also this. Whose titles I don't quite remember. (But not \"Genius of photography\" - I haven't seen that)

I could write you a lot about films about and around photography...so let's start:
Peter Delpeut "Lyrical Nitrate" (NL, 50 min.)
Peter Delpeut "The Forbidden Quest" (NL, 1993, 71min).
No comments needed. See for yourself!
BBC series 'Master
Photographers' about Alfred Eisenstaedt, Bill Brandt, Andreas Feininger.
F.F.COPPOLA "KOYAANISQATSI" (life out of balance), 1983
"POWAQQATSI" (life in transformation) 1988
there are some more, just need to look for them.

Paparazzi (1998) was shown on some Latvian TV. It wasn't that bad actually. P.S. Put on spell-checker :)
